05.17.13 Life is super weird and super hard and super wonderful. How crazy?! It's crazy. I'm feeling a bit split down the middle these days, but I am hoping to have some more things to share soon. Time, you know? I need to work on my patience. See you next Friday, 5/24, at Glasslands? Brooklyn, I cheated on you with LA. And I'm really sorry, but I don't regret it. I'm back, though, so I'd really love to make up. Let's do it. RSVP HERE.
04.02.13 HAPPY 2013! I am a lame-o. Come see me tonight at Brooklyn Bowl? I'll catch you up over some milkshakes and bowling balls.
09.10.12 New single alert!! Today, I release the song I recorded at the Converse Rubber Tracks studio via an awesome Indaba Remix Competition. I'm really excited about it and would love for you to check it out - you could win $2,000. That's pretty incredible. Special thanks to Indaba, Converse, Matt Shane, and the musicians who made this so great (Dave Wyss, Sean Hutchinson, Joanna Katcher, Caitlin Moe). More info HERE.
08.07.12 HEY. I've been spending a lot of my summer gearing up for the fall. That seems kind of the wrong way to live life, but what I mean by that is there are going to be lots of new and great things coming. I feel like music is cyclical like that...you spend a lot of time on something, you release it to the world, you stew on that a bit while stewing up new things, let those brew for a while, disappear for a second, release more. In most recent news, I was CMJ Sonicbids Spotlight Artist for July, and got a sweet lil write-up, which you can read HERE. This musical community is such a strange sea, and I am finding my way and meeting some really great people. Life is fun when you just swim in it.
06.12.12 Listen, I tried to teach myself some basic coding and dreamweaver action, and I ended up in a ball crying in the corner out of frustration and general craziness. Just kidding, mostly. Basically, this website is so pretty...and I keep messing it up. Stick with me! I'm smart, I promise. Just got the final mix I recorded at Converse Rubber Tracks, and I have to say, I'm really excited. Matt Shane and I worked really well together, and I think there's some more collaboration in our future....which is awesome. Hope all of you are well. This update was really just an attempt at seeing how it's going to post to the website, so let's all cross our fingers it makes it.
05.14.12 Summertime is finally almost here. Update: I won the Deli Mag contest and am their artist of the month! Check it out: http://nyc.thedelimagazine.com/. Last week I was lucky enough to spend a day inside the Converse Rubber Tracks studio - Um. This place is awesome. I feel so lucky to have been invited, and can't wait to share all the cool stuff we did. We tracked a new song and I had my pal Kristen Winter document the process, so I'll have lots of new things to show you soon. I also got a sweet ass pair of high-top chucks. HOW COULD LIFE POSSIBLY GET ANY BETTER. I also ran my first half-marathon last weekend. I have yet to determine if that's something I want to do again or not.
04.23.12 Two exciting things to tell you! 1. I'm nominated for the Deli Mag's artist of the month competition where I can win some much needed studio time. I would love your vote, it takes 10 seconds and you don't have to give any personal information. Go here to vote: Deli Mag and 2. I'm playing a show at Mercury Lounge on 4/25 with Lissy Trullie and I would love to see you there. I'm on 1st at 8pm. Tickets here: Mercury Lounge.
02.29.12 HAPPY LEAP DAY. I am celebrating by hopping in a car with my pal Kristen Winter and driving to Virginia to play a show on UVA's lovely campus. I'm hoping the luck of a leap day makes this trip the best trip to have ever been tripped. I feel a kinship to the leap day because my birthday is in February, so therefore my brain immediately connects us....for whatever reason. My show last week with Via Audio and Savoir Adore was a blast - the music and the people keep getting more fun. 2012 is off to a great start for me. I hope it is for you too. x
01.31.12 Just confirmed another show at Cameo Gallery this time with Chris Walla's latest signing Now Now. I love the songs I've heard from them so far and i'm sure they will be just as awesome live. Field Mouse are also on the bill so it's going to be a night of dreamy, shoe-gazing/star-gazing. For advance tickets go here: Tickets
01.23.12 Happy new year world. January is usually the worst but it's been good to me so far. Thanks to all of you who came out to the show at Glasslands with ladythrobs Mitten & Allison Weiss. We had a great time even though I was so sick. My vocal chords have recovered and we have two exciting shows coming up in NYC. The first is at Cameo Gallery Feb 24th at 8pm with (attractive) friends Savoir Adore and Via Audio, who I don't know yet but can't wait to meet. The second is at the uber delightful Ace Hotel on March 25th, where I want to live. I'll be in the lobby at 10pm playing a set so please come out and hang.
11.14.11 All Of The Miles, officially released! You can find it on iTunes, Amazon, and everywhere else you'd try to find it, probably. The last couple shows have been a blast...it's been pretty cool to work hard, bringing these songs to life. I've got some plans up my sleeve to make the live show even better, and I'm excited to put them into motion. See you this weekend, New York? Friday night, Pianos, with You Won't, Spanish Prisoners, and Ski Lodge. Gonna be a blast. xo.
10.17.11 So many cool things in the works...the official release date for All Of The Miles is November 1...you can still pre-order your heart out at iamlightyear.bandcamp.com :) We're playing our first ever CMJ show tomorrow (Tuesday, October 18) at Piano's for the Old Flame Records Party...I can't wait. So so happy to have this off the ground and running. See you soon I hope!
8.25.11 The support and excitement surrounding this new project has been entirely awesome. I'm happy to announce the official EP release show - Friday, September 30, 2011 at Flux Studios in NYC. More details coming soon - an event not to be missed.
